CARTER LINDBERG

Dr. Carter Lindberg is Professor Emeritus of Church History at the Boston University School of Theology. Previous academic positions: Research Professor at the Lutheran World Federation’s Institute of Ecumenical Research, Strasbourg, France (1979-1982); The College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA (1967-1972) and Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA (1965-1967). He graduated from Augustana College (IL), Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and the University of Iowa School of Religion. He has contributed a variety of studies to the field of Reformation studies including “Beyond Charity: Reformation Initiatives for the Poor” (Fortress, 1993) and “The European Reformations” (Wiley-Blackwell, 2010). His recent publications include: Co-editor (with Paul Wee) and contributor, The Forgotten Luther: The Social-Economic Dimensions of the Reformation, Minneapolis: Lutheran University Press, 2016; “Luther on a Market Economy,” Lutheran Quarterly 30 (2016), 373-92; also The European Reformations (2nd ed,, 2010), Love: A Brief History (2008), A Brief History of Christianity (2005), and The Pietist Theologians (2004), all with Wiley Blackwell.
